Driving Clinical Care, Research and Education in Mental Health for a Nation
Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Singapore
The Institute of Mental Health (IMH) is the only tertiary psychiatric care institute in Singapore. It has played a pivotal role in the development and roll-out of mental health care services in Singapore over the last 87 years.
As a national centre, IMH takes a population health perspective in much of its work. IMH focuses not only on treatment, but also public education, prevention of mental illness and re-integration for successful living in the community for our patients, which include children and adolescents, adults, and the elderly. As a thought leader with the relevant expertise, IMH also supports national mental health capability-building, working closely with local partner agencies to establish better continuity of care in the community.
At the institute level, we focus our efforts on three main areas – providing clinical care through a comprehensive range of psychiatric, rehabilitative and counselling services, conducting research that informs policy-making, and educating the next generation of mental health practitioners.
