At Arkansas Children's, multidisciplinary teams are pioneering partnerships that deliver on a the promise of a healthier tomorrow for the state's 710,000 children. The programs address social determinants of health, making sure that factors outside the hospital's walls are set up to improve children's well-being. Initiatives include a food pantry partnership to provide on-site, emergency food to families who indicate they struggle with food insecurity and a collaboration with legal aid attorneys to help families navigate issues ranging from health-related education accommodations to public benefit access. Clinicians and administrative teams alike have embraced the use of a screening form in clinics that helps staff connect families with these resources.
