The Global Tobacco Surveillance System (GTSS)
Monitoring the Global Tobacco Epidemic
The Global Tobacco Surveillance System (GTSS) is the global standard for monitoring the tobacco epidemic. The GTSS -implemented in almost every country in the world - enhances countries' surveillance capacity and provides robust data to effectively evaluate tobacco control interventions. The Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) and Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS), components of GTSS, have been implemented in over 180 and over 30 countries, respectively. The GTSS data is used by policy makers, civil society, academia, and other global and in country partners to create evidence for lifesaving tobacco control policies and programs.
