Information from All Dimensions in Imaging: Making Better Materials and Controlling Matter Atom by Atom
Institute for Functional Imaging of Materials, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
The goal of IFIM is to bridge imaging and theory via big data and machine learning methods to reveal the local physics and chemistry underpinning local structure-property relationships in materials and use this knowledge to enable the design of new materials with tailored functionalities. The institute coordinates efforts between electron, scanning probe microscopy, and chemical imaging sciences, materials sciences and condensed matter physics, mathematics, and high performance computing across Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
