Department of Urology, Nippon Medical School
The Future of Urologic Oncology
Once a residential town where samurai lived, Sendagi is a refined area where the streets of old remain even today. On the corner of these streets sits Nippon Medical School, established in 1876. Founded in 1926, the Urology Department currently plays an active role in the world of medicine, with roughly 2,500 outpatients and 1,000 operations every year.
The department excels at nurturing promising young urologists whilst taking a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and utilising the latest technology in both diagnosis as well as treatment including MRI scanning and the Da Vinci surgical system.
Research and clinical are a huge part of the work of the department with current research looking into the use of artificial intelligence in medical care.
