UQ Engineering requires students to ‘act’ as engineers in a range of on-campus face to face interactions grounded in authentic disciplinary practices. Innovative on-campus and on-line learning environments underpin these active learning experiences, allowing for the integration of both theory and practice. The UQ Engineering curriculum meets strong stakeholder demands for developing engineering ability and professional competencies, with ever-increasing class sizes (up to 1200) and wide student diversity, through the use of the latest on-line learning technologies. These technologies have allowed a transition away from traditional lecturing towards the flipped classroom.
