Center for Pelvic Floor Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital
Working Together to Change Lives
Many women suffer from Pelvic Floor Disorder, but many go untreated because of embarrassment and lack of understanding around the condition. The Center for Pelvic Floor Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital provides coordinated care from a multidisciplinary team of doctors to provide peace of mind & improve quality of life. The team includes colorectal surgeons, urogynecologists, gastroenterologists, urologists, physical therapists and radiologists, who all work together to determine the best course of individualized action for each patient—some patients are good candidates for pelvic floor physical therapy and will not need surgery, while for others, they recommend combined surgical procedures to correct problems all at once. The Center for Pelvic Floor Disorders is dedicated to the idea that the pelvis is a unified structure that cannot be addressed by drawing an imaginary line between vagina and rectum. It is an interplay of connections that influence each other and must be addressed in combination for any repair to succeed.
