City of Selma, TX

Rich in History, Dominant in Economic Development

Located along one of the fastest growing corridors in the nation, Selma, Texas has flourished in recent years in attracting quality dining, retail, industrial services to go along with its burgeoning population growth. History is important to this South Central Texas City and it has demonstrated this by the investment into developing two historically significant properties, the Selma Stage Stop and the John S. Harrison House. Established in 1847, Selma, Texas was mainly known for having a Stagecoach Stop along the route from San Antonio to Austin. Interestingly enough, it has come full circle as Selma is still known today as a gateway and modern day stage coach stop for travelers and people living along this IH-35 Austin-San Antonio Corridor. Poised for continued growth, Selma is now turning its sites towards sustaining its infrastructure, creating a sense of place, and developing its core of being a small City at heart while also a skip, jump and a hop from big cities like San Antonio and Austin. Visit Selma and you will realize that it is indeed rich in history, dominant in economic development thanks to its current and previous City Leaders. Fun fact, the original Selma City Hall is now a Hooters Restaurant, which we think rivals for any best re-use and re-development of any previous government-owned building
