Through strategic investments in development of a few focused research groups and addition of 5 new Faculty and 2 Staff, the Baylor University Geology Department (16 Faculty) has become a nationally competitive research program specializing in Terrestrial Paleoclimatology, Solid Earth and Applied Geophysics, Applied Petroleum Studies, and Water Research, conducted in the Baylor University Sciences Building, a state-of-the-art research and teaching facility. This expansion occurred during a period of economic downturn while Geoscience programs at many public universities experienced recession. M.S. and Ph.D. students receive outstanding faculty mentorship, with a strong record of job placement in both industry and academia.
