Leading France in pediatric endocrinology and rare disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism.
French National Centre of Reference for rare disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism
Rare inherited genetic or acquired disorders affecting the regulation of calcium-phosphate cause severe disabling, sometimes life-threatening, conditions manifesting as hormonal dysfunctions, abnormal development, abnormal levels of blood calcium and/or phosphate, growth impairment, bone fragility, handicap and tooth anomalies.
The reference centre for rare diseases of calcium and phosphate metabolism, created in 2007, have developed a multidisciplinary approach for these disorders, including access to genetic diagnosis and specialised and personalised care.
Multidisciplinary care and efficient paediatric-adult transition are assured by the close collaboration between paediatricians and adult endocrinologists and with various expert specialists (radiologists, surgeons, neurosurgeons, ENT, dentists, pathologist). This is particularly efficient because all these experts work either in the Bicetre hospital or in other centres nearby such as Bretonneau, Cochin and Necker hospitals.
