We pride ourselves on being strong in the disciplines, as well as undertaking innovative cross-disciplinary work in areas such as biophysics and econophysics.
From its inception in the 19th century as the Department of Natural Philosophy, the Melbourne School of Physics has developed into a dynamic and ambitious department seeking to understand the universe for its own sake, to use that knowledge for the betterment of humanity, and to contribute significantly to education, research training and engagement with society.
