Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (QNLM)
Building and Sharing Resources for the Future of Ocean and Climate Science
Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (QNLM), approved by the China Ministry of Science and Technology of PRC in 2013, is the first marine national laboratory in China. Located in the core zone of marine research, Qingdao Oceantec Valley, QNLM covers an area of 640 hectares.
The research areas of QNLM include the ocean dynamic processes and climate change, benthic processes and gas resources, extreme environments and resources in deep sea and polar regions, evolution and protection of marine ecological environments, marine technologies and equipment and more.
QNLM brings in resources and professional teams in order to undertake original research projects and promotes the open sharing of resources, strengthen scientific research ability, and to provide technical support for humanity to better understand the oceans.
Since launching, QNLM has stressed its open sharing of science through international cooperation in scientific research with other countries, to jointly tackle global climate change issues, promote exploitation and protection of marine resources, and boost sustainable development of oceans around the world - building a community around a shared future in the ocean and climate science.
