Manchester University is the largest university in the UK and, in some ways, the most successful – they currently have 4 Nobel Prize winners on staff. The Faculty of Medicine and Human Sciences is the biggest health research faculty in Europe. The Institute of Brain, Behaviour and Mental Health within this Faculty are a strongly interdisciplinary group of academic psychologists, psychiatrists, neuroscientists – the second largest such research group in the UK. They use the model of translational research to address big clinical priorities – psychosis, mood disorders, dementia and neurodegeneration, developmental disorders, suicide and homicide.
